Mollie Baity Smitherman, 90 of East Bend, passed away on Friday May 22, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 10, 1924 to the late Raymond and Cora Hutchens Baity in Yadkin County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bryce Smitherman Sr., a brother Sanford Baity, and three sisters Ethel Bovender, Flora Bovender and Faye Miller.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her three sons Bryce Smitherman, Jr. and wife Deanna of Sea Level, NC, James Smitherman and wife Karen and Charles Smitherman and wife Denise, both of East Bend; a daughter Janice Baity and husband Steve of East Bend; two sisters Ola Martin of Boonville, Ollie Smith and husband Charlie of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren Rhonda Finney, Bryan Smitherman, Rachel Amato, Ashley Miller, Miranda Hines, Matthew Smitherman and Jade Smitherman; and nine great-grandchildren Salem Finney, Arden Finney, Tatum Finney, Wyatt Smitherman, Yates Smitherman, Mikenna Goodman, Jace Loman, Alana Amato, Kannon Miller.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smitherman will be held at Shady Grove United Methodist Church on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 3pm with the Rev. Gary Mahathy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Huff Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Shady Grove United Methodist Church, East Bend, NC 27018 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 320 West Maple St, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
