Ms. Wanda Kay Shore, age 61 of Yadkinville, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at her mother’s home in East Bend. Born on April 23, 1963, in Yadkin County, Wanda was the beloved daughter of Lillie Mae Brown Hutchins and the late Franklin "Aldean" Matthews.
Wanda is remembered with love by her mother, Lillie Hutchins; her daughter, Sonja Barefoot; her sisters, Barbara Matthews and Amy McFadden; and her four cherished grandchildren, Rachel Barefoot, Mason Barefoot, Mackenzie Baker, and Corbin Baker. She also leaves behind her special friend, Pete Penly, her devoted dog, Peaches, and a host of cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Franklin "Aldean" Matthews; a daughter, Becky Shore; a brother, David Franklin Matthews; and a sister, Annette Matthews Sapp.
Wanda had a passion for tending her flower garden and was known for her exquisite cross-stitch creations. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in the company of her beloved Peaches.
In lieu of formal services, the family requests that donations be made to Huff Funeral Home to assist with the cost of her services.
Wanda's gentle spirit and kind heart will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
