Thomas Edison Timmons, devoted husband of 70 years, adored father, beloved grandfather, WSFC school principal & WWII Navy Veteran went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 25th.  He was 97. For all who knew him, "Tommy" was a thoughtful, generous, smart & humble man.  He was an avid yardman, a collector of many things, a furniture lover & had a servant's heart.  He was born January 20, 1926 in Surry County to Mitchell & Essie (Deatherage) Timmons.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth “Shiney” Timmons; three daughters, Debbie Christensen (Clyde) of Winston-Salem, Kitty Hunt (Cliff) of Winston-Salem, & Julie Mayberry (David) of Charlotte.  He is also survived by his brother, Robert "Bobby" Timmons (Doris) of Mount Airy; & two sisters, Myrtle Davis of Fairfax, VA & Peggy Inman (Clifford) of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Rachel Breslin (Chris) of Durham; Becca Biggs (Blake) of Tampa, FL, Ruthie Taylor (Luke) of Winston-Salem, Katherine Hunt of Charlotte, Wesley Mayberry of Charlotte & Whitley Mayberry (Molly) of Charlotte.  He is also survived by his five great-grandchildren, Noa June Breslin, Titus Breslin, Emett Breslin, Simeon Breslin & Josiah Taylor.
