Mr. Thomas Lee Douglas Sr., age 91, of East Bend, passed away Saturday June 3, 2023 at Hospice and Palliative Care in Yadkinville at 5:25am.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Pat; parents Paul Douglas and Minnie North; brothers and sisters Ann, Jane, Junior, Joe, and Dallas.
He is survived by his son Thomas Lee Douglas Jr. of East Bend; a brother Frank Douglas of Pfafftown; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Vickie and Eddy Hennings of East Bend.
Tom was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He received many medals including a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal. Tom had 50 plus years as a Mason and was a charter member of Old Town Masonic Lodge #751. He was one of the original founding members of Old Richmond VFD; a charter member of the Team and Wheel Credit Union; a drag racer from the late 1950's through the early 1960's. Tom drove for Leaseway Transport hauling cars till his retirement in 1988. He was also a master beekeeper teaching many the art of beekeeping and he loved farming as well.
Services provided by Huff Funeral Home of East Bend will be visitation Tuesday June 6, 2023 6pm-8pm; service Wednesday June 7, 2023 at 10am at Huff Funeral Home with burial to follow in Jefferson Church of Christ Cemetery 8200 Jefferson Church Rd Rural Hall, NC.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice-SECU Hospice Care of Yadkinville.
