Terry McGlamery Obituary

Terry Clayton McGlamery, 66, of Millers Creek, NC passed away peacefully on Monday February 17th, 2025 at Watauga Medical Center surrounded by family.

Terry was born on June 14, 1958 in North Wilkesboro, NC. He was the son of Norris Clayton McGlamery and Gladys Reeves McGlamery.

Terry graduated from West Wilkes High School in 1976. A few years later Terry married his high school sweetheart Jamie Bryant on May 26, 1979 in Millers Creek, NC. The two celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in May of 2024.

After working at Lovette’s and Lowe’s right after high school, Terry started what would be his lifelong career of working in several areas of construction. He worked as a brick and block mason for years with his father-in-law (Jim Bryant). He started pressure washing jobs on the side. It would eventually become his full-time job. He spent decades pressure washing trucks and tankers for Bumgarner Services, while pressure washing houses, decks, and driveways on the side. He continued to do brick and block work throughout his career as well. If you lived in Wilkes, Ashe, or Watauga, Terry may have laid the brick for your home, pressure washed your house, built you a new paving brick walk, or constructed your new patio fireplace.

As a young man, Terry loved growing up at his parent’s house with his grandparents and aunts next door. He loved being outside in the fields surrounding their property on Charity Church Road. He had a love of motorcycles, and he loved telling stories about all of the times he had as a kid riding through the streets and hills of Wilkes County. He had a love of Ford cars and trucks that lasted his entire life. He could immediately tell you the make and model of about any car built from the 1950s-1980s. In his free time, he loved detailing cars and motorcycles for others. Later in life he enjoyed riding ATVs in West Virginia and going to Panthers football games.

In 1985, Terry and Jamie welcomed their son Daniel into the world and three years later, they would complete their family with a daughter, Megan. Terry and Jamie spent the next 20+ years raising their family in Millers Creek in the home built by Terry, Jim, and Norris. They loved going to all the sporting events and competitions over the years, and they loved it even more when they got to see their grandkids out there on the fields and courts.

Terry loved a good meal around town, and you could always find him eating a good breakfast or dinner at the local diners. He knew all the waiters/waitresses at his favorite spots.

Terry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wilkesboro, NC, and he was proud to share his testimony.

Remaining to cherish Terry’s memory are his wife Jamie; children, Daniel and Adria McGlamery of Raleigh; Megan and Brett Yates of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Finley (12) and Bennett (9) Yates, Hayes (10) and Ella Katherine (8) McGlamery ; mother, Gladys McGlamery; brother, Hayden McGlamery (Robin); sister, Leta Wagoner (Scott); sister-in-law, Kim Norman (Ricky); father-in-law, Jim Bryant; step-mother, Louise McGlamery; nieces and nephews, Bryan Norman (Elle), Haley Eggers (Nathan), and Madison McGlamery; Uncle, James Reeves (Cindy) Aunt; Julene Rash; great nieces and nephews, Trenton, Jada, and Liam Norman and Chloe Eggers, and many cousins, close friends, and pets.
