Mr. Norman Andrew Shore, age 78, of East Bend, passed away on Friday April 22, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
He was born on October 15, 1943, in Forsyth County to the late John B. Shore and Elsie Pauline Voss. After graduating East Bend High School, he joined the army and was stationed in Germany. He retired from RJ Reynolds after 32 years of service while working with Wachovia Electric Co., where he wired the first Smart House in NC. He also earned his pilot’s license, taught himself to play the guitar and other musical instruments, and loved to travel.
Norman was a member of the VFW, the American Legion where he served in the Honor Guard for military funerals and a volunteer fireman with the East Bend Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an active member of Stony Knoll UMC, where he served in several different offices such as Trustee, United Methodist men, choir member, hand bells, and a member of the building team, participating in mission trips to areas in need. He was also the community handy man, always fixing things for his friends and neighbors. Norman loved God, his family, community, and country. He was an all-around great guy.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John ‘Benny’, Richard, and Harold Shore. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Shore Carter (Mark), three grandchildren, Tiffany Kidd, Cody Carter, and Ryan Hester (Destiny), four great grandchildren, Dante and Lexis Kidd, Jaxon Baker, and Charlotte Hester. Also, many nieces and nephews, along with a special cousin, Romie (Brenda) Flynn.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their excellent care during his stay.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 9, from 9:45-10:45am at Stony Knoll UMC, 2340 Flint Hill Road, East Bend, with the funeral service at 11:00am with graveside committal and military honors following. The service will be Live Streamed on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/StonyKnollUMC
