Nell Ruth Dezern Hill

March 21, 1936 – January 7, 2026

Nell Ruth Dezern Hill age 89 passed away peacefully January 7, 2026 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brief illness. Nell was a resident of Parkwood Place Independent Living in Elkin NC.  

Nell raised her family in Kernersville NC, where she faithfully used her gift of hospitality. Her home was frequently visited by many family with friends. Nell never met a stranger and was the life of the party with her outgoing personality.

Nell was a member of Salem Baptist Church (Dobson, NC)  

Nell was born in East Bend NC, March 21st, 1936 she was the youngest daughter of the late Charlie Arvil Dezern and Jessie Scott Dezern, also preceding her in death were her sibling William Matthew (Mack) Dezern, Paul Jackson (Jackie) Dezern, Lorene Lineberry, Charles Dezern and Marlene Taylor, a granddaughter April Michel Hill and a great grandson Noah Lee Hill.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons and wives, Dean and Jolene Hill (Kernersville, NC), and Daryl and Rhonda Hill (Dobson, NC), a brother Larry Dezern of Hermitage, Tennessee and a sister Peggy Jumper of Walkertown, a special grandson, Chad Hill and wife Amanda of, Conover NC. In addition she had three great grandchildren, Austin Haynes (Jane), Ashlyn Marshall (Maddox) and Aiden Haynes. She also had three additional grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Huff’s funeral home in East Bend is serving the family. There will be a private graveside service at Union Chapel and Cemetery Pastor David Trump officiating.
