Michael King Obituary

Michael Ray King would like to let you know that his work here on earth came to an end very suddenly on June 22, 2018. He received a call, sort of an offer he didn’t want to refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly what he wanted. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be working with his son Jason, his Mother Betty Long (Betty Boop, affectionately known as Sassy Pants), and father James (Buster) Long.

Mike longed to see his son once again. He talked all the time that Jason would be roofing, and he would produce the concrete for the house Jason was roofing. Mike also pictured his mother Betty sitting on the porch making sure they are planting tomatoes right and placing the bird houses where she wanted them. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. Ice cream, kit kats, snickers, and reese’s are in abundance and you will never gain an ounce. Mike will be missed by all who knew him however, the trumpets are sounding and the pearly gates in heaven are wide open as he meets his Lord Jesus Christ.

Mike started out working in the concrete yard using machinery and worked his way up in the concrete industry. He was later promoted to Plant Manager, Sales, and retired as the Division Manager of Quality Control. He enjoyed life to the fullest after retirement, traveling and being with family. He was a member of New Hope Church in Sanford NC.

He left behind beloved family members, his wife Tina of 19 years and the love of his life he would always say. His four beautiful children Nicole King, and wife Kaitlyn, Taite Banner, and wife Amy, Megan Donley, and Michael Banner and Husband Josh Smith. He also has two surviving sister that he loved dearly Anita Tilley and husband Mike, Libby McCombs and husband Dave, and one great niece, one great nephew, and two grandchildren he adored. Family wanted to say special “Thank You”, to the doctors and nurses, words can't express how much we appreciate your love, kindness, and support through this most difficult time.

A celebration of Life service for Mr. King will be held on Saturday June 30, 2018 at 12 pm at Huff Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 11am-12 pm prior to the service.  Huff Funeral Home of East Bend is respectfully serving the King family.  Online condolences may be made at www.hufffuneralhome.com.
