Mary Ruth “Shiney” Timmons, age 95, of Winston Salem, went home to be with the Lord and her Tommy on Thursday April 10, 2025.
Mrs. Timmons was born on March 6, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late Hiette Holmes Williams and Earle Susanna Williams. She had a style and grace that left everyone who knew her feeling better about themselves and truly loved. Mrs. Timmons was a graduate of Guilford College and taught elementary school for over 30 years. She was a wonderful mother adored by her grandchildren and everyone that knew her. Mrs. Timmons loved music and sang in the choir at Pfafftown Christian Church. She was a great cook, loved to play tennis and bridge, and known by everyone as “Shiney.”
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years Thomas Timmons; and three sisters Cassie Mackie, Betsy Poindexter, and Julia Cox.
Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters Debbie (Clyde) Christensen of Winston Salem, Mary Katherine “Kitty” (Cliff) Hunt of Winston Salem, and Julie (David) Mayberry of Charlotte; six grandchildren Rachel (Chris) Breslin of Durham, Becca (Blake) Biggs of Tampa, FL, Ruthie (Luke) Taylor of Winston Salem, Katherine Hunt of Charlotte, Wesley (Madi) Mayberry of Charlotte, and Whitley (Molly) Mayberry of Charlotte; and seven great-grandchildren Noa Breslin, Titus Breslin, Emett Breslin, Simeon Breslin, Josiah Taylor, Gideon Taylor, and Wells Mayberry.
A funeral service for Mrs. Timmons will be held on Tuesday April 15, 2025, at 11am at Pfafftown Christian Church with Rev. Rodney Stillwell and Rev. Tim Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow in East Bend Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10am-11am prior to the service at the church. Memorials or flowers will be accepted at Pfafftown Christian Church, 3323 Transou Rd, Pfafftown, NC 27040.
