Mr. Magnus Arne Halldorson, age 79, of Siloam, passed away on Friday April 25, 2025 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Mr. Halldorson was born on October 9,1945 in Porta -au-Prince, Haiti to the late Arne Halldorson and Mary Lou Drennan Halldorson.
He attended Christ School in Asheville where he lettered in baseball, football, and basketball and later went on to earn a Master in Physiology from UNC Chapel Hill. Mr. Halldorson worked in construction, carpentry, and logging in Arizona, Montana, and Northern California before settling and homesteading in Northern Minnesota. He had a great love for wildlife, feeding birds, raccoons, skunks, and even a porcupine. He also rescued many cats over the years. He lived in Moore County for awhile where he worked as a cardio rehabilitator and taught at Sandhills Community College. After retiring, he moved to Siloam in Surry County and for 18 years planted orchards and grew gardens. Mr. Halldorson was also a talented artist, woodworker, and welder. He will be greatly missed by his sister Anya, many friends, and especially by his wife Carol who was his long time fellow traveler sharing many adventures such as hiking, kayaking, gardening, and loving cats.
