Larry David Murphy

Mr. Larry David Murphy, age 72, of Elkin, passed away on Monday August 28, 2023 at Salisbury VA Medical Center.

Mr. Murphy was born on February 4, 1951 in Yadkin County to the late Roe John Murphy and Effie Sizemore Murphy.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose Mary Murphy; a sister Carol Jean Murphy Butner; a brother Johnny Evan Murphy; a nephew Joshua Adam Murphy; and a niece Melissa Butner Griffin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his girls Julie (Jeremy) Doss of Mocksville and Torrie Root; three brothers Samuel B. Murphy of Murphysboro, TN, Daniel M. Murphy of Salisbury and wife Lartha, and Timothy R. Murphy and wife Lori of Rutherfordton; a sister Ruth E. Cave and husband Larry; grandchildren Elizabeth Odom, Douglas Odom, Hannah Odom, Merrick Root, and Sarah Doss; great-grandchildren Stevie Gober and Addalynn Hagood; and beloved fur babies Smokie, Snuggles, and Baby Girl.

A funeral service for Mr. Murphy will be held on Friday September 1, 2023 at 2pm at New Home United Methodist Church in East Bend.  Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm prior to the service on Friday at the church.
