Mr. Douglas Lovell Lawrence, 78, of Yadkinville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Mountain Valley Hospice/SECU Home.
He was born on August 10, 1943, to the late McKinley and Effie Triplett Lawrence in Surry County, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings James Lawrence, John “Butch” Lawrence, Gladys Prevette, Joseph Lawrence and Duke Lawrence.
He enjoyed working for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for over 33 years. He loved his daughters more than anything in this world. He loved animals and enjoyed boating, swimming, water skiing, talking with friends and going to the flea market to look for deals on tools.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters Emily (Tom) Andrews and Kristy Lawrence both of Winston-Salem, sister Sally Dillon of Kernersville, Pat Lawrence, multiple nieces, nephews, and friends, including his cherished friends, Margaret Hauser and Keith Kerns.
A memorial service for Mr. Lawrence will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Huff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jon Bowman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, Attn: SECU Hospice Care Center, 401 Technology Drive, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or the animal rescue group, Friends of the Stokes Shelter, Inc, 1111 Dodgetown Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
