Mr. David Wayne Hopkins, age 55, of Winston Salem, crossed the finish line here on Earth on Sunday February 20, 2022.
Mr. Hopkins was born on March 9, 1966 in Guilford county to Mary Cook Stevenson and the late Howard Hopkins. He has been a race car driver since 1997 at his home track, Bowman Gray Stadium. He worked for Professional Air for 15+ years. He was a loving Husband, Father and Paw Paw. David never met a stranger, he always made friends. He worked hard and loved helping people. David had a BIG heart. He will be greatly missed, as he had touched the hearts of many.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a sister Ronda Welborn and a close friend K.C. Myers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years Janet Hopkins of the home; two sons Brandon O'Neal of Salisbury and Chad Hopkins of Winston Salem; his mother, Mary Stevenson and step-father, Rick Stevenson; one brother Tony (Paige) Hopkins of Kernersville; two sisters April (Carlos) Clifton of Walnut Cove and Tammy Hopkins of Siler City; three grandchildren Channing, Camden, and Cayson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 6 to 8 PM at Huff Funeral Home.
