Claire Nicole Sloan “Nikki” ascended to heaven on Sunday, April 20th, 2025, at the age of 43, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Born on January 10th, 1982, in Yadkin County to the late Wanda Hutchens Matthews and the late Larry Blue Sloan. Nikki was also blessed to have been raised and cared for by her loving bonus father Thomas Matthews. With a heart full of joy and a spirit that radiated warmth, Nikki had a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature, finding solace in the serenity of the outdoors and the elegance of flowers. Her love for family was unparalleled, and she took great pride in preserving cherished family traditions. Nikki's unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and infectious laughter inspired countless lives. Her family was always greeted with open arms, a bright smile, and a warm hug that embodied her unconditional love. Nikki was reunited in heaven with her mother Wanda Matthews, father Larry Sloan, and a special cousin Mitchel Norman. Those whose lives she touched are now left to cherish her memory, including her son Gavin Dewitt, daughter Nevaeh Martin, dad Thomas Matthews, sister and best friend Keshia (Tony) Christian, a host of nieces and nephews including Kaleb (Danielle) Clifton, Laken (Robbie) Potts, Ethan (Ashlyn) Christian and Mason (Brianna) Christian. She also leaves behind great-nieces and great-nephews Aubrey and Grayson Clifton, Braxton and Jaxxon Christian and Atleigh Potts. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date to celebrate her extraordinary life.
