Cassie (Williams) Mackie

Cassie Williams Mackie, 90, died December 5, 2018 at Brighton Gardens of Winston Salem, NC. She was born November 1, 1928 to Hiette Holmes Williams and Earle Susanna Williams in East Bend, NC. She was a Graduate of Guilford College and was a kindergarten teacher for more than 40 years. Cassie was predeceased by her husband James G Mackie, daughter Nancy Gayle Mackie and two older sisters, Betsy Williams Poindexter and Julia Williams Cox. She is survived by her younger sister Mary(Shine) Williams Timmons, son James(Jay) G Mackie, Jr, daughter in law Debbie Crafton Mackie, grandchildren Stephan Mackie and wife Lucy and Kelli Chesson and husband Ben, great grandchildren  Nimue Williamson, Landon Mackie, Sofia Mackie and Smith Chesson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cassie was a lifetime member of the Society of Friends(Quaker) and attended Winston Salem Friends Meeting in Winston-Salem. She loved music and was a choir member and played piano for the choir and served the church in many other capacities. She was a beloved grandmother. As was true of her chosen profession, she loved the little children and will be remembered by many for her funny stories, songs and for making the early years of school a wonderful experience for all her students.

A celebration of life will be held at Winston Salem Friends Meeting on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem, NC at 11 AM, Thursday, December 13, 2018 with a reception to follow. She will be buried at the Friends Cemetery in East Bend, NC  at 2 PM, beside her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Winston-Salem Friends Church and the Forsyth Humane Society would be appreciated.
