Asvaldoe "Val" Short

Asvaldoe " Val " Short passed away unexpectedly on Nov 18, 2022. Val was born on November 18, 1979 in Forsyth County, North Carolina to his beloved mother, Ms. Devon Harding Short.

Val grew into an exceptional man while attending Yadkinville Elementary School and Forbush High School in Yadkin County, graduating with honors in 1997. During his academic career Val distinguished himself in the classroom being selected to the National Junior Honor Society and serving as an officer of this organization. He was also an accomplished athlete receiving conference and school honors in basketball, football and track/field at both the Middle and High School levels.

Everyone that knew Val was impressed with his keen intellect, empathy and kindness. True to his character, Val spent his entire professional career in the service industry most recently as the General Manager of Hardees restaurant in Yadkinville.

Although short in years, Val's life was full with the love, joy, and happiness that he felt for everyone he befriended. Val loved sports, movies, anime, cooking, his dogs, his friends but most of all his family.

Val was preceeded in death by his loving mother but surviving to cherish and celebrate his life and influence is his wife and " soul-mate ", Michelle Lynn Short, his daughter, Cheyenne DeLeen Boger, his sons, Tristian DiMaggio Short and Hephaistian Noah Alexander Short, and his grandson, Joshua Harlem Jeremiah Barahona.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 30 from 6-8pm at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend, NC. Val's service, a celebration of a life well lived, officiated by Thom Summey, will be held Thursday, December 1 beginning at 4:00pm.
