Annie Laurie Rucker, a loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, November 8, 2021, surrounded by her children and those who loved her most.
Annie was born on November 29, 1929, in Forsyth County to the late Sam and Emma Shelton, the fifth of six children.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Russell O. Rucker, a son Larry Gene Rucker, a grandson Master Andrew O. Grimes, sons-in-law Roger “Buck” Grimes, Bruce “Bill” Quesenberry and a daughter-in-law Cheryl Rucker. Also preceded by her brothers and sisters, Dora (Ted) Teague, Sara (Gilbert) Reynolds, Julia (Raymond) Weatherman, Clifton (Margie) Shelton, and Henry (Zoralee) Shelton.
Annie is survived by six children Judy Cline, Becky Quesenberry, Jackie Rucker, Sandra Grimes, Beverly (Timmie) Hyatt, and Darlene (Zachary) King. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren Ronnie (Carla) Quesenberry, Russell (Christina) Quesenberry, Diane Long, Robert Cline, Roger (Chasity) Grimes, Randy (Marcia) Grimes, Curtis Rucker, Rocky (Valerie) Hyatt, Christina (David) Bray, Emily (Michael) King-Brazier, and Jocelyn (Stephen) Chatfield.
Annie was a fighter, a warrior, and a kind, gentle soul. She had a long-fought battle with Leukemia that she survived through her faith in God and the grace of Jesus Christ. Annie was a member of Grace Baptist Church, led in faith by Pastor Zachary King, her son-in-law. Annie loved gospel music, praising the Savior, and passing along the word of Jesus to her family. Annie also enjoyed birdwatching, cooking and canning food, and gardening.
There are countless lives touched with twenty-one great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Huff Funeral Home of East Bend. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Huff Funeral Home East Bend, NC. Her memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, Lewisville, NC on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 11:00 am. Pastor Zachary King will officiate. Interment will be at Temple Baptist Church, Lewisville NC, where she will be laid to rest with her loving husband. Donations in memorial may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, who provided the most loving care in her final hours.
