Anne Elizabeth Hensley

Anne Elizabeth Hensley, age 91, of East Bend, passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center.

She was born on September 22, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late John Hensley and Alpha Pack Hensley.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother Roy Hensley and four sisters Bessie Adams, Osie Wall, Virginia Butner, and Hazel Lineberry.

Anne was a strong independent woman and was the first woman to ever drive a school bus in Yadkin County. She loved walnuts and would sit on a rock and crack walnuts. Anne was Annie Oakley with the rifle and she would stand on the creek bridge and shoot snakes that popped their head out of the water. She loved to play the piano and sing and could really make the piano talk. Anne also enjoyed poling a boat up the Yadkin River.

Those left to cherish her memory are a sister Rachel Martin of East Bend and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday March 21, 2025 at 2pm at East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery with Joseph Harris officiating.
