Opal Johnson Southern passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019.
She was born August 9, 1935 in Forsyth County to Ray and Evelyn Doub Johnson.
She is survived by sons Tommy of East Bend, Tony (Rebecca) of Sparta, Keith (Lauren) of Clemmons, daughter Vicki of East Bend, step-son Jeff and step-daughter June Collins, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Proceeding her in death were husband William J. Southern, parents, brothers Vernon and Bobby Johnson and sister Mildred Martin.
Surviving brother are Wayne, Jerry (Gladys) and Paul (Amy). Also sisters Carol (Robert) Matthews, Bettie Shrek and Sherry (Mike) Poindexter, two dear long time friends Alene Covington of Mt. Airy and Katherine Baugess of Carolina Beach, NC.
Opal was a member of Believer's Baptist Church and was the pianist until health prevented her.
Services will be held at Believer's Baptist Church, Yadkinville, by Pastor Dean Chandler, speaker Keith Cates and Preacher Brain Poindexter at 3 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
