John Percy Collins

God in his infinite love and mercy, peacefully called Mr. John Percy Collins, age 81, of King, NC to his heavenly home on January 6th, 2020.

John was born in London, England on November 21st, 1938 to the late Frederick and Kathleen Collins. He arrived in the United States aboard the Queen Mary Ship in 1948, at the age of 9. John always had a special love of ships and would build replicas. He was a paint contractor for 58 years and loved to fix up houses. His biggest hobby was singing, as he was very talented and had a beautiful voice. He loved detailing vehicles and he could make anything shine. He loved to tell stories and after retirement, he loved to visit McDonald's almost daily, for his favorite coffee.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughters; Christina Collins of Dobson, NC, Lisa (Daniel) Spainhour of Pinnacle, NC and Jennifer Collins of Pinnacle, NC with former wife and forever friend Jeanne Collins Tilley. Two loving daughters Gina (Will) Collins-Laster of Austin, TX and Diana Collins of Zephyrhills, FL., and a son Tim (Elaine) Rosenberger of Lakewood, OH; one brother Jerry Harden of London, England; one sister Elsie (Jim) Webster of Kissimmee, FL; better known as "Papa John" to his Grandchildren Josh, Janah, Jessica and Jacob. Aaron, Christopher and Tiffany, as well as several more Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his late sister Evelyn Collins-Stearns of Clearwater, FL.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, January 10th, 2020 from 6-8pm at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend, NC. The celebration of Johns’ life will be held in March. Memorial donations in memory of John can be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
