Betty Long Obituary

Betty Lou Long ( Betty Boop, affectionately known as  Sassy Pants) would like to let you know that her work here on earth is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be watching and feeding the birds, gardening, doing her word search,  playing bingo,  and making jewelry to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. Betty will be missed by all who knew her; however, the trumpets are sounding and the pearly gates in heaven are wide open and she meets her Lord Jesus Christ.

She left behind some family members she wanted to mention: her three children Anita Tilley and husband Mike, Libby McCombs and husband Dave, and her son Michael King and daughter-in-law Tina; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She also has one surviving sister that she loved dearly Ethel Marceau.
Betty was married to the late James (Buster) Long. Betty was a waitresses for 47 years and retired from Chuck Wagon. She enjoyed life to the fullest after retirement, traveling and being with family. She attended Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Tobaccoville, NC.

She resided in Brighten Gardens, 2601 Reynolda Road, Winston Salem.
Family wanted to say special “Thank. You” to everyone at Brighten Gardens. You gave Betty lots of joy, happiness, and love and if you made her mad, she would set you straight. Everyone became family to her and to us. Words can't express how much we appreciate your love and kindness.

Funeral services for Betty will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Pastor David Raiford officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
