Warren Kaye Patterson

Warren Kaye Patterson, 76, of East Bend, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was born in Yadkin County to Davis Wilson Patterson and Fannie Thelma Fletcher-Patterson. He was the fourth of four siblings. He was a farmer and was employed by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for many years, then graduated from the Police Academy in 1967 and served in the Winston-Salem Police Department in the Patrol Division, Detective Division, Vice & Narcotics Unit, and District Criminal Investigations. He retired as the Chief of Police for the Town of East Bend where he served for 20 years.

He was a longtime member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church and played bass guitar for the choir. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William Bernard Patterson, Boyd Fletcher Patterson, and Davis Wilson Patterson, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Emma Louise Snow-Patterson of the home, a daughter, Angela Overby of East Bend, a stepson, Mark Brindle of Seattle, WA; a granddaughter, Heather Carroll and two great granddaughters, Kaylee and Alexis Childress all of East Bend; numerous nephews, nieces and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Watts officiating. Special thanks to the staff of the Neuro-ICU unit of Forsyth Memorial and a very dear friend and caregiver, Sherry Poindexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
