Mrs. Wanda Hutchens Matthews, age 60 of Yadkinville passed away on Monday June 29th, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mrs. Matthews was born on September 5th, 1954 in Iredell County to the late David York and Loraine Hutchens York. She worked 12 years as a director at Helping Hands and dedicated her life to helping others. She had unconditional love for her friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Matthews was also preceded in death by a brother David York.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters Keshia Christian and husband Tony of Yadkinville, Claire Sloan of Yadkinville; two step children Timothy McCollum and wife Kasey of Hamptonville and Candy Hill and husband Chris of Winston Salem; one brother Calvin York of Union Grove; one sister Wanda Jean York of Salem, VA; a special friend Thomas Matthews of Yadkinville; a life long partner Michael McCollum of Yadkinville; best friend Anita Dorsett; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Matthews will be held on Thursday July 2nd, 2015 at 5pm at Huff Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Steve McCollum officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-5pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice or to Huff Funeral Home to help offset final expenses.
