Mrs. Virginia Collins Whitman, 86, of Tobaccoville passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Virginia Whitman was born on August 22, 1929 to the late Sandy and Flora Doub Collins. She was a faithful member of Parkway Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem and was retired from 67 Motors after many years of employment.

Virginia was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed country western music and dancing. She also enjoyed tending her yard and flowers. One of her favorite past times was enjoying her camper trailer in the Blue Ridge Mountains and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Ray Whitman, II.

She is survived by her son Rev. Dan Whitman of Greeneville, TN; four sisters: Ruby Bailey, Norma Robbins, Faye Collins, and Phyllis Williams (husband Robert), all of Winston-Salem; one grandchild: Chris Whitman and friend Tammie Wall; two great-grandchildren: Sammy Whitman and Hannah Whitman; one great-great-grandchild Ryder Ray Whitman, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Parkway Presbyterian Church followed by a Celebration of Life service at the church at 7:00 pm on July 6, 2016 with the Rev. Kerry Westerwick officiating. A reception will follow services. Burial will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pfafftown, NC at 10:00 am.
