Mr. Thomas Matthews, 86, of East Bend, passed away on February 7, 2016 at Woltz Hospice Home.

He was born to the late John Henry and Lilly Mae Norman Matthews on May 14, 1929 in Yadkin County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons Gary Matthews and Michael Matthews.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Mildred Matthews of the home: a son Jerry Matthews of East Bend; a daughter Brenda (Raymond) Harris of East Bend; three sisters Mildred Brown of East Bend, Dorothy Burleson of Yadkinville, and Nell Allen of Yadkinville; four grandchildren Sylvia (Ted) Akers, David Harris, Richard Harris, April (Bryan) Harris; and two great grandchildren Katrina Akers and Zachary Akers.

A graveside service for Mr. Matthews will be held on Wednesday February 10, 2016 at 3pm at Forbush Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 9, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at Huff Funeral Home.
