Shirley Lawson Choplin, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Mrs. Choplin was a loving, devoted, prayer warrior, wife, mother and memaw to all of her family. They were her greatest worldly treasure. Spending time holding babies, going to ball games, seeing grandchildren accomplishments, and going to family get-togethers are what made her heart happy. She was a light to all who knew her. She was a devoted member of the East Bend Evangelical Methodist Church, where she played organ and piano. She was a member of the Praise team and loved sharing Christ’s message in song. She retired from Revco/CVS as a pharmacy technician. She enjoyed getting to know her customers so much and also sharing God’s Word with them and her co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Gray Lawson, mother Ruth Butner Lawson, and son-in-law Noel Jackson Wood, Jr.

She is survived by her loving, faithful husband David Choplin, who has been devoted in her support and care for her for 55 years, brother Samuel Lawson, children Dee Dee Kirkman (Russell Paradis) of Thurmond, Chand Choplin of East Bend, Sara Wood (Timmy Currie) of East Bend, and Candi (Craig) Mounce of Boonville, grand- and great-grandchildren Tara, Keith, Kayleigh, Tyler Williams; Mae, Justin, Jacey, Jhet, Jhex Matthews; Crimsyn Ely (Justin Weatherly); Brandon, Ricarda, Jenni, Traidon, Mia, and baby Washburn, Jessica Taylor, Austin Plemmons (Lauren Stimpson), Tessa, Rylee, Lilah Norman, Chandler Choplin, Anna Grey, Wylie, Abbi, Abel Thomas, Peyton (PJ) Wood, Megan, Charlie Ellis, Noel, Nathan, Waylon Moore, Joshua Wood, Zach, Tanner Mounce and Caiti Mickles.

Funeral services for Mrs. Choplin will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at East Bend Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Jason Doolittle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Huff Funeral Home.
