Welcome to the memorial page for

Mollie Sue (Brown) North

May 16, 1950 ~ February 14, 2016 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. (Psalm 100:1, 2, 4) Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister & friend Mollie Sue Brown North came before our Lord & Savior with singing & entered his gates with thanksgiving on Valentine’s Day after a battle with ALS. Sue as she was affectionately called, was born  May 16, 1950 to the late Austin & Mollie Styers Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Austin (Jamie) North of the home, a brother & sister-in-law Gray & Shirley Brown & a brother-in-law James Thomas (Jim) North.

Sue was a faithful member of Union Cross Friends where she played the piano & organ in many weddings & funeral services over the years. She also sang with “The Singing Laymen” gospel group & later sang with “Array of Hope” gospel quartet. She worked for several years at Johnson’s Modern Electric before moving on to the Yadkin County Board of Elections where she retired from in 2011.

Music & singing praises to her Lord was one of her greatest joys in life. She was also an avid gardener who loved working in her many flower gardens. She also loved spending time with, baking cookies & having sleepovers with her grandchildren. She also loved spending time with her sisters, brothers & many friends.

Left to cherish her memory are: her husband of 47 years, William J. North, Sr. of the home;  a son William (Jonathan) North, Jr. & wife Michelle; three grandchildren who were the apples of her eye: Lillian (Lilly) North, Spencer North, & Ruby North; a brother Kenny Brown and wife Betsy; three sisters Jane Hennings and husband Alvis, Annette Hennings and husband Joe, and Clara Hinshaw and husband Bobby; and a cherished sister-in-law Peggy North, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive visitors at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend on Wednesday February 17, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at Union Cross Friends on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 2 pm with Pastor Robin Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the ALS Foundation Gift processing Center, In Memory of Mollie Sue North, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.

Sue was an example of how we all should strive to live our lives for our Lord & Savior each day. Her sweet disposition along with her grace & dignity while battling ALS is an example to all who were privileged to know & love her. She will be deeply missed.
