Mrs. Margie Poindexter Smith, 98, of East Bend passed away on June 9, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.

She was born on August 3, 1917 to the late Richard and Dolly Leamon Poindexter in Yadkin County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Lowe Smith, Sr. and ten brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Lowe Smith and wife Jackie and Billy Joe Smith and wife Katie, both of East Bend; five grandchildren: Joe Smith and wife Beth, Sandy Starling and husband Johnny, Tammy Myers and husband Gary, Phillip Smith and wife Teresa, and Cindy Smith; seven great-grandchildren: Danny Smith and wife Amy, Sarah Matthews and husband Lucas, Emily Crissman and husband Joseph, Gary Myers, Jr. and wife Kristin, Kristin Tolley and husband Brian, Brittany Smith, and Matthew Smith; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Poindexter officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Huff Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church.
