Mr. Leslie Edward Stevens, age 59 of East Bend passed July 7, 2017 after a long battle of many illnesses.

He was born on September 28, 1957 in Richmond, VA.

He is survived by his wife Martha Faw Stevens of 42 years; daughters Angie (Michael) Cockerham, Carrie Stevens and Jim Anthony, and Ashley (Shayne) Welborn; his mother Myrtle Daniels; brothers Billy Jo Daniels and Tommy Daniels; mother in law Majorie Faw; brother in laws Kent (Michelle) Faw and Jeff Faw; sisters in laws Debbie (William) Creech and Jean Faw; five grandchildren Mackenzie Hunt, Caleb and Paisley Stanley, and Chloe and Levi Welborn.

He was preceded in death by his son Edward Chad Stevens; a sister Marcie Daniels; brothers Timmy Daniels and Chuck Stevens; father Roland Stevens; and father in law Clyde Faw.

“Our Old Man” There are a few things we would like to say about him; Lester loved his family with everything he had.  We were his pride and joy.  He was a strong, hardworking man.  A man’s man.  Most of his working years he spent as a foreman for Logan Heating and Air.  He loved to fish.  He grew the biggest most beautiful gardens you have ever seen.  He also loved to collect antiques and could sit for hours and tell you about his “Find of the day.”

We would like to close with this; A limb has fallen from the family tree.  I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me.”  Remember the times, the laughter, the song.  The good life I had while I was strong.  Continue my heritage I am counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.  My mind is at ease and my soul is at rest.  Remembering all how truly I was blessed.  Continue traditions no matter how small. Go on with your life don’t worry about falls.  I miss you all dearly so keep your chin up until the day comes we are together again.

A memorial service for Mr. Stevens will be held on Monday July 10, 2017 at 12pm at East Bend Baptist Church with Pastor Mitch Smith officiating.
