Laurence Todd, Jr. Obituary

Laurence Houston Todd, Jr, 86, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina passed away on January 27, 2018.

He was born on November 9, 1931 to the late Laurence Houston Sr. and Gladys Shermer Todd in Yadkinville, North Carolina. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1949 and served in the Air Force until 1954. He worked for Western Electric/ AT&T for 33 years and retired in 1989. During this time he graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1969. He was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church then East Bend Baptist Church from 2000-2017 where he taught Sunday School and was a Deacon with both congregations. After that, he was a member of Clear Spring Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC. He was a member of East Bend American Legion Post 336 and a East Bend Town Commissioner for twelve years

In addition to his parents, Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his first wife Maxine Hayworth Todd, and daughter Patricia Ann Todd.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 24 years, Miriam Allred Todd of the home; son Laurence Houston (Sandi) Todd, III of High Point; three stepchildren Miriam Elizabeth Wilborne of Little Rock, AK, Tommy Lee Canipe, Jr of Fountain Inn, SC, and John Clifton Canipe of Worcester, South Africa; brothers Maurice (Clara) Todd of Chadds Ford, PA, and Edward Todd of East Hampton, CN; sister Carolyn Austin of Mansfield, Texas; ten grandchildren Evan Davis, Jacob Todd, Carleigh Todd, Scottie Lechuga, Brad Wilborne, Camille Canipe, Natalie Canipe, Wesley Canipe, Chase Canipe, Carly Parker; and nine great-grandchildren: Eli Lechuga, Ethan Lechuga, Evie Lechuga, Rubi Lechuga, Averi Parker, Finley Parker, Crawford Canipe , Ellie Teel and Parker Finch.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM on February 17, 2018 at East Bend Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Internment of cremains will follow at 5 PM at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church in High Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Equippers International, a non-profit Christian ministry to Africa. Checks can be mailed to P.O.
