Karen Trail Culbreath, age 53 of East Bend passed away on Wednesday morning June 21, 2017 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson after a nine month battle against lung cancer.

Karen was born on August 17, 1963 in West Virginia.

Karen will forever be remembered for her beauty, intellect, and strong independent spirit.  She was a passionate gardener and loved tending to her many flowers, plants, and tropical palm trees surrounding her home.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband James Scott Culbreath; James’ parents Charles Culbreath and Beverly Culbreath; a sister Claire Culbreath; a brother Wade Culbreath and wife Teri of La Crescenta, CA; and best friend Jill Staughn-Winslow of Concord.

There will be a private ceremony for scattering Karen’s ashes in her garden at a later date.
