Johnny Wilson Johnston, 76, of East Bend passed away January 5, 2017 at his winter home in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born on March 14, 1940 to the late James and Nettie Eva Johnston, and was a lifelong resident of East Bend, NC. 

He was retired from Pepsi Cola, and was talented at woodworking and furniture building. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Katie Leonard Johnston. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Toni) Johnston and three grandchildren Jerick Wilson Johnston, Brock Allen Johnston and Emory Vittori Alexis Johnston of St. Petersburg, Fl. He is also survived by two brothers Larry (Ruth) Johnston, George (Donna ”Boots”) Johnston, two sisters Mary Catherine (Jerry) Matthews, and Barbara Johnston all of East Bend.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnston will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 am at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Pastors Ottis Hurst and Bobby Watts officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Huff Funeral Home.
