Mr. John “Joe” Thompson Sr., age 78 passed away on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mr. Thompson was born on October 30, 1938 in Forsyth County to the late John Thompson Sr. and Annie Rucker Thompson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Annie Thompson.

Mr. Thompson served his country in the United States Army and was a retired mechanic from RJ Reynolds.

Those left to cherish his memory are a son Joseph “Joey” Thompson of Lewisville; two daughters Marieann Reitzel (Justin Caulder) of Lewisville and Bridget Zrinski of Burlington; two sisters Ruby Grimes of Lewisville and Peggy Ramirez of Yadkinville; five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Mr. Thompson will be held on Friday February 3, 2017 at 2pm at Grace Baptist Church in Lewisville with the Pastor Zack King officiating.  Burial will follow in Temple Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm on Thursday night.
