Cleo Cornelia Long Butner, 94, of East Bend passed away December 28, 2012.

She was born April 9, 1918 in Forsyth County to Ernest Gaston Long and Alice Hendrix Long. 

She was married  to George Butner December 23, 1934.  He preceded her in death October 24, 2004.

Cleo retired from Chatham Mfg. Company after 21 years of service. During her lifetime she and her husband ran the service station near Butner Mill Road.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh (Hop) Long and Lester Long, three sisters, Jewel Davis, Lola Waller, and Ruth Norman.

She is survived by two bothers, E. G. (Greek) Long, Jr. and wife Lucille, of Tobaccoville and Archie (Bud) Long and wife Jackie, of Pfafftown. Also a special niece, Patty Davis Prim and husband Jerry, of East Bend, and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to The Magnolias Over Yadkin.

Cleo became a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, in the Dozier Community, at an early age. She retained her membership there throughout her lifetime.

Funeral services for Mrs. Butner will be conducted on Sunday, December 30th, 2012 at 3pm at Huff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Hamrick and Pastor Dwight Cartner officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Church Cemetery.
