Charlie Ray Hobson

November 26, 1934 ~ July 23, 2016 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Mr. Charlie Ray Hobson “Farmer” age 81 of East Bend passed away on Saturday July 23rd, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mr. Hobson was born on November 26th, 1934 in Yadkin County to the late Charlie W. Hobson and Orie Mickles Hobson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Weldon “Hop” and Clifford “Bud” Hobson and two sisters Mozelle Hennings and Erie Russell.

Charlie retired from RJ Reynolds after 30 plus years of service.  He was very active with serving Meals-on-Wheels, driving a school bus for Yadkin County Schools, and working on his cattle and hay farm until his recent illness.  He was a well-known and highly respected member of his community.  Charlie was “truly a unique” individual and will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to have known him.

Those left to cherish his memory are a sister Marie Williams of Yadkinville; a sister in law Della Hobson of East Bend; six nieces; four nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and special friends Tony Griffin and Taylor Edwards of East Bend.

Per Charlie’s request there will be a private graveside service at Baltimore United Methodist Church.  Friends may sign the register at Huff Funeral Home between 11am and 4pm Monday July 25th, 2016.  In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Yadkin County or to Baltimore United Methodist Church.
