Dear Family Members,
Al and I worked together closely on a number of cases when I was a new attorney in the WFU Legal Office in the early 80s. He was a great source of strength and a solid resource for me. Although I was the only person of color in the office  and an attorney with less than 10 years of experience when I began my work at WF , Al always accorded me the highest degree of respect. We shared a lot of laughter together over university matters, and I will miss his sparkle. Thank you for sharing such a compassionate and knowledgeable person with the University and with me. I will never forget him.

Cathy,  Al will be missed by all who ever met him.   I had hoped to see you both again smiling and together at many more PDA gatherings.  He was such a kind and caring man with a smile so bright you couldn't help but smile too.

When I was six years old, God blessed me with the most wonderful friend a man could ever hope to have.  Over the past 64 years, his friendship has meant more to me than words can express.  I know that my life will never be the same without him.  May God rest your soul in peace, my forever friend, until we meet again.

Cathy,
You and Al have been in our constant prayers for months now.  Words are so inadequate at a time like this.  Both Les and I send our love to you and your entire family.

You are both the type of cousins everyone wishes they had.  We within the Poindexter Descendants Association have been blessed to have you both as such active participants.  When I was President, you were always there for me.  We never had a better treasurer or such a wonderful advocate for our group.  Al will be greatly missed and always be remembered by all who ever met him.

Hugs and blessing to your entire family, I know Al is looking down on every one of you with love and care,
Robin

I am so sorry to  hear of Al's passing. I don't think there was ever a time that I talked with Al that he wasn't upbeat and happy. He never complained about anything. He was such a joy to be around and I will miss him alot. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. God has truly called home another angel.

Cathy, Allison and Mickey and families, it is so hard to express how much we will miss our dear loved one, Al.  You could not ask for a more thoughtful, kind, generous, and christian  friend.  His quick wit and knowledge on any subject were second to none.  He loved his family, neighbors and friends, and his little dog, too.  We will miss him more than words can tell.
Love,
Ozzie and Marian

Dean and I are so sorry to hear of Al's passing. I had felt that I had just begun to become aquainted with he and Cathy just a few short years ago after having met at the Kiser Reunion. My amazement was how much he looked like my father, and they are 3rd cousins! Having visited Al a couple of times while recuperating, I had thought he was on the road to recovery. I'm still in shock. I Miss Al, admired his talents, and his heart and really appreciated his smiles whenever we greeted. Enjoyed conversing with you and Cathy at your home and all the knowledge you gave about our family history and I had hoped for many more visits with Al. Till we meet again.... Our love and condolescences, Dean and Yancy Raper

Our love and prayers are with each of you in the passing of Al.  I know that precious memories are flooding your soul as you remember all the happy times together.  We appreciate so much all the things you have done for our family reunions.  We enjoyed so much working with you on the 2006 PDA National convention held here in Winston.  Al showed strong leadership and organizational skills as he directed his team to make this a wonderful event.
Our love and prayers,
Richard and Elaine

Cathy and family, I was very sad to hear of Al's passing and wanted to send my sympathy.  I never got to meet Al, but earlier this year, my phone dialed his phone instead of the number I meant to call.  After apologizing for the wrong call, Al said that was no problem and he and I talked for at least 20 minutes, exchanging family stories.  I loved hearing his accent and the genuine interest in his voice.  Plus my husband and I have enjoyed the Birthday cards from Cathy as members of the PDA.  I know it's really hard to lose a loved one, expecially at this time of the year, but wanted to tell you I shared a small part of your loss.  May God Bless and comfort the family.

So shocked and saddened to hear of Al's passing.  Became acquainted with Al through the Kiser Family Reunions which I never was able to attend being so far away in Canada.  But, when I was in NC it was such a pleasure to meet Al and Cathy, have dinner with them and visit in their home. "Cousin Al" as he referred to himself was helpful in genealogy research and loved talking about our common ancestors.  He will surely be missed by many people.  My deepest sympathies to all the family.  God Bless you, Al.

Big Al will be missed!  He never met a stranger, always had a smile for others and contributed so much knowledge (and stories) over the years we knew each other.  He contributed so much to the Poindexter Descendants Association as a volunteer and as our treasurer.

Cathy, Michele and my thoughts are with you and your family.  Know that he is in a better place without pain or suffering.  I'm sure he is watching over you.

Alton has been our friend since we were in the fourth grade at Rural Hall Elementary School.  We are so thankful for the reunions he helped plan for the Northwest High School Class of 1957.  We will miss him, our classmates will miss him and we are so thankful for all the happy memories.  One day he called and said, "I'm in King, come to see me."  We went to Village Care several times and were blessed by visiting with him.  Alton was a loving, caring person to all who knew him.
